hogares.
This work reflects on new ways of seeing through technologies and their impact on the use of digital photography. We examine the meanings generated by the use of digital photography in the virtual world and this opens up a possible semiosis and diverse interpretations. To do this, we selected four users from the social network Instagram: users between twenty-one and fifty-three years old; two female university students and two professional men. We also complement our corpus with contributions of our own production taken during trips, visits to museums and exhibitions, among others. We analyze some of these productions linked to selfies, travel photographs and some aspects of daily life. We also explore how this social network has transformed the way we see and share photographic images. Photography, as representation and evocation, acts as a referential framework from which we interpret the world. We infer that observation is no longer direct, but mediated by technological devices, such as mobile phones. People now live a virtual life through social networks, capturing images so as not to overwhelm their memory and then reliving the moments in the comfort of their home.
