Data management and presentation have become increasingly important in every industry and company, and the seed production industry is no exception. Understanding the current state of any process requires indicators obtained through measurement, because “you cannot improve what you do not measure.” Simply collecting data is not very useful, but if you process it correctly, you can extract key information that allows you to make accurate decisions, achieve set targets, and improve and streamline processes. Nowadays, there is a trend towards task automation, including data management, which is encapsulated in the concept of “Business Intelligence.” This final project focuses on analyzing the initial situation and subsequently improving data processing tasks and procedures used to obtain Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People indicators at five of Satus's processing plants. This company is a third-party service provider with an Organizational Customer Service Management philosophy. First, I created several flowcharts consisting of five or six steps to describe how the indicators for each pillar were obtained. Manually data entry and calculations used to be done, requiring various Excel files and screens to achieve and view the results; there was one separated file for each of the five processing plants. To facilitate automation, improve the graphic visualization, rendering understandability an unified form was created with different formulas that calculated and loaded automatically data, reducing both, number of errors in calculations and in data entry. As a result of these interventions, new flowcharts were developed for the same indicators, now with only three steps. Using Power BI allow the data to be represented and visualized graphically in real-time, achieving a significant improvement over the previous situation. The new chart is simpler, easier to be understood on a single screen; it demonstrated that the process was improved and the proposed automation was successfully implemented.
