Cornelius Castoriadis highlights throughout his work the importance of the pedagogical dimension of the autonomy project, emphasizing the role of the education and the necessity of a radical reform, in order to obtain true paideia. A paideia of autonomy, an education for the autonomy and towards the autonomy, that promotes the interrogation and the constant reflection.Only the education of the citizens, Castoriadis claims, can give a true and authentic content to the public space. That paideiameans to become aware that we are also the polis and that its destiny depends on our participation in the political life. There is only a relative and contingent “guarantee” for the democracy, he affirms. The least contingent of all is the paideiaof the citizens, the formation (always social) of individuals that are conscious simultaneously of the necessity of the law and the possibility of questioning it, the interrogation, the reflexivity and the capacity to deliberate, the freedom and the responsibility. Freedom under the law, autonomy, means participation in the position of the law to the author. In conclusion, there cannot be a democratic society without paideia
