El Pacto de Milán y las Estrategias Alimentarias Urbanas: ¿Respuestas prepandémicas para un mundo post-pandémico?

A partir de los análisis que plantean que los modos de producción y consumo de alimentos y el
proceso de urbanización global son importantes
factores causales de la actual pandemia, nos preguntamos acerca de la potencialidad que tienen
las respuestas públicas que muchos gobiernos
locales implementan para construir esquemas
alimentarios sostenibles, que evitarían en el futuro volver a enfrentarnos a escenarios como el
actual. En este sentido, analizamos el marco global de política alimentaria sostenible diseñado
por la alianza internacional de gobiernos locales
denominada “Pacto de Milán” y su influencia en
el desarrollo de estrategias alimentarias urbanas
en diferentes casos. Tras destacar la integralidad
y novedad de la respuesta pública que proponen
e implementan las ciudades, concluimos que
resulta necesario impulsar una agenda internacional que discuta seriamente la transformación
de los modos de producción y consumo de alimentos, en la que no deberían estar ausentes los
gobiernos locales.
Starting from the analyzes that suggest that the modes of food production and consumption and the global urbanization process are important causal factors of the current pandemic, we wonder about the potential of the public responses that many local governments implement to build sustainable food schemes, which would prevent us from facing scenarios like the current one in the future. In this sense, we analyze the global framework of sustainable food policy designed by the international alliance of local governments called “Milan Pact” and its influence on the development of urban food strategies in different cases. Highlighting the comprehensiveness and innovative character of the public response that cities propose and implement, we conclude that it is necessary to promote an international agenda that seriously discusses the transformation of food production and consumption modes, in which local governments should not be absent.
