The main objective of this research has been to enquire about the links/linkages between paper and digital storytelling in children’s literature with gender and diversity perspective. The stories Monstruo Rosa and Leotolda, respectively published in 2013 and 2016, written and illustrated by Olga de Dios, have been chosen as case studies. In order to carry out this research we sought to characterize the reading experience as a plural practice in which what is literary transcends the conventional norms regarding format and narrative. Taking into account three different conceptual approaches; literature with gender and diversity perspective, transmedia readings and transliterature, we aimed to analyze the narratives and formats present in the literary offerings available for children today. Starting from the analysis of the literary genre “picture book”, a genre that proposes a union between the written and the pictorial codes, we could account for the different links between the analog and the digital. These links are not of substitution but rather of complementation. Each medium offers its strengths to enrichen the literary experience. As a whole, this research contributes to a rethinking of the representations that circulate in the cultural goods made for children, but it also to reflection about the approaches on reading studies and their new interfaces, which are born out of socio-technical and cultural protocols that are constantly evolving.
