This article proposes to show a kind of state´s profile in Argentina between 1955 and 1976: those civil servants who could survive and remain in charge in the middle of political conflict of this period. In this way, it tries to use biographical method applied toone of the most relevant civil servants in the period: Octavio Caraballo. He worked in the executive from Arturo Frondizi to Maria Estela Martínez de Perón presidencies, and tries to reconstruct central features of a group of agents who, having made their first experience during the management of 1958- 1962, ended up occupying leading positions in the state and private management afterwards. Thus, the work tries to do two contributions. In one hand, to offer an issue for a historical sociology of Argentina´s State during sixties and seventies. On the other, to describe links between political and economic elites.
