general.
This study examines the processes of communication and participation in museums in the province of Salta, with a specific focus on the selected case study, the Interactive Museum "Explora Salta." Within the framework of contemporary media ecology and conceptualizing communication as a dialogic process, this research explores the transformations, adaptations, and narrative, digital, multimedia, transmedia, and spatial potentials of these cultural institutions. The museum is analyzed through the lens of an interface (Scolari, 2020), allowing for the recognition of the intricate network of human, institutional, and technological actors that constitute and interact with the studied case. Particular attention is given to technological actors, identifying their applications within the physical setting of the Interactive Museum "Explora Salta," while emphasizing the contextual understanding of how museums in Salta are extending their presence into virtual environments. In this regard, the study critically examines the roles ascribed to visitors within the communicative strategies of these digital spaces and investigates the underlying conceptions of communication informing the practices of those responsible for developing communication strategies in museums. The analysis of the museum context from the perspective of communication and participation sheds light on the possibilities offered by transmedia narratives and the available resources within the media ecosystem. Additionally, it supports the design of a digital and interactive communication proposal aimed at reimagining the museum as a transmedia entity and advancing a participatory approach to the construction of cultural heritage in the Interactive Museum "Explora Salta" and in the broader museum landscape of Salta.
