The main objective of this project is to address the challenges faced by railway logistics in the efficient classification and formation of freight trains within a rail yard. Improving operational processes in this sector is essential to ensure its competitiveness and promote effective management. The relevance of the study lies in the growing need to optimize asset management. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology emerges as a promising solution to tackle these challenges. Implementing RFID systems in the rail yard will enable automatic identification, facilitating efficient train classification and formation. This technology provides the ability to track and monitor assets in real time, enhancing traceability and safety throughout the entire logistics process. The importance of rail transport in today's economy is emphasized, along with the need to optimize its processes. The information generated enables efficient route planning and scheduling, dynamic asset inventory management, strategic decision-making, and optimization of heavy equipment movements such as locomotives and railcars.
