Los estudios de comunicación en América Latina durante los
años '80 pueden ser ubicados en el marco de un clima de
ideas común, Que consideraba Que la distintividad latinoamericana
-principalmente cultural- engendraría una producción
intelectual propia, Que a su vez tendría como objeto fundamental
dar cuenta de esa especificidad.
Tomando como exponente los aportes analíticos de Jesús
Martín-Barbero, se busca dar cuenta de ese vínculo, relacionándolos
a su vez con un debate de época donde la tensión
modernidad - posmodetnidad llegó a permear no sólo
cuestiones relativas a la definición de la identidad latinoamericana
de fin de siglo sino a la especificidad de los debates
comunicacionales en sí.
