El objetivo del presente artículo es plantear una articulación posible entre los conceptos de
identidad y de memoria, a fines de abordar teóricamente la construcción discursiva de la
identidad de los argentinos que emigraron en el período 2001-2005. Con ello buscaremos
sustentar la hipótesis de trabajo de que en la elaboración de la identidad de esos migrantes
son centrales los recuerdos vinculados a la así llamada crisis de 2001 que se actualizan a la
hora de emprender el desplazamiento migratorio.
Esta reflexión se enmarca dentro de un proyecto más amplio en curso, que busca analizar la
construcción discursiva de las identidades de los emigrantes argentinos hacia España e
Italia en la prensa gráfica y en foros de Internet durante el período 2001-2005. En ese
marco, propondremos que las rememoraciones del pasado se ponen en juego en la
elaboración de interpretaciones que dan sentido a acontecimientos recientes que se
producen en la sociedad, y que además intervienen en la construcción de la identidad del
individuo y del colectivo, en un contexto cambiante como lo es la emigración
