Female underrepresentation in the technology sector constitutes a persistent and structural phenomenon that limits both women's full development and the capacity for innovation and economic growth in Latin America. The objective of this paper is to analyze the inclusion of women in STEM fields and in the startup ecosystem, identifying the main barriers and opportunities. Based on a descriptive-analytical methodology supported by documentary review and the systematization of regional secondary data, a systemic approach is proposed. The study concludes that the gender gap is dynamically constructed across three interconnected levels: STEM education, labor market insertion, and participation in the entrepreneurial and venture capital ecosystem. Each level reinforces the next, configuring a loop where the lack of female role models in decision-making positions perpetuates segregation. Finally, emerging opportunities driven by gender-lens investment funds and support networks are discussed, emphasizing the need for comprehensive public and private policy interventions.
