The hypothesis that guides this article consists of interpreting the recent reemergence of anti-democratic movements and consensuses in Brazil as part of a reactionary restoration of militarism, understood as a set of ideas and as a political movement. For this, we seek to demonstrate, based on empirical data and bibliographical research, the restoration of the direct role of the military forces in the bureaucratic apparatus of the State, the cultural diffusion of their image as guardians of Brazilian democracy and the demand for military intervention as instruments of popular mobilization in contemporary age.
