In Necochea (at the southeast of Buenos Aires, Argentina) was carried out a trail on a Typic Argiudol soil, clay loam, class I. Experimental plots of 14 m wide by 1000 m long sown with the sunflower hybrid SYN4070CL parents lines, were used to perform a test of a source of boron fertilization, under two treatments, witness and fertilized. A source of boron (Boro Stoller), applied as foliar (dose of 1.5 liters / ha) on alternate lines (T1) in contrast to an unfertilized (T0), was evaluated in a paired sample design with six replicates. Fertilizer application was made in the phenological stages R2-R3. On treatments, yield, thousand seeds weight and sizing (size) seed variables were measured. The mean values were compared with a "t" Student test for paired samples. Compared values showed no statistically significant differences (p> 0.05) for any of the three variables analyzed, although a slight sizing increase (6%) in favor of the fertilized witness was recorded when considering the whole of the top three sizes (G0, G1E y G1), which are the most interesting for their commercial value. Based on the obtained, it would not be advisable to apply boron to produce seed maternal parent line hybrid SYN4070CL, in soils of southeastern Buenos Aires province, for similar to those of the present assay conditions (boron levels of 1 ppm and similar climatic conditions to the average of the last ten years).
