Así como lo ha señalado la Alta Comisionada para los Derechos Humanos, Michelle Bachelet, el genocidio continúa siendo un flagelo y amenaza en pleno siglo XXI, y la crisis humanitaria de los rohingya es una prueba de ello. El pueblo rohingya y la crisis humanitaria en la que se ven sumergidos, ha captado la atención de los principales medios de prensa mundiales en agosto de 2017. Si bien la situación es anterior a esta fecha, fue entonces cuando los niveles de violencia escalaron de tal manera que la comunidad internacional ya no pudo mirar para otro lado. Asimismo, ya no se pueden obviar las pruebas que dan cuenta que se trata de un genocidio. Sin embargo, durante este periodo de análisis la actuación de la comunidad internacional vía Naciones Unidas ha sido categóricamente insuficiente; dejando de esta manera a los rohingya en condiciones de extrema vulnerabilidad.

The Rohingya people and the humanitarian crisisin which they are involvedcaught the attention of the main international media in August 2017. Although the situation precedesthis date, it was then whenthe levels of violence escalated so dramatically that the international community could no longer look the other way. Moreover, the evidence that proofs that this is a genocidecan no longer be ignored. However, during this period of analysis, the actions of the international community via the United Nations have been categoricallyinsufficient; leaving the Rohingya in extremely vulnerable conditions.
