The theological, philosophical and literary readings of the Book of Job nourish the history of the wavs in which Western Political Thought, from the Patristic to conternporarv authors, has reflected upon the presence of the Evil in the world, and its articulation with politics. lf Modern Politics has insisted in reflecting about the paradoxical link bctween the Evil and the State, after Auschwitz the Evil becomcs unjustifiable and it is exhibited in its most critical arbitrariness. From Hobbes onward, the struggle between the Evil and the Good is shown in its irresolvable traits, and the political thought scems to lead us to the post-modern atmosphere of the polytheism of values and the lack of foundations for morals, which has been anticipated by Weber, and previously, by Nietzche.
