[en] The aim is to establish the basis to support the relevance of a more focused approach of the different viewpoints concerning Political History and Political Science as the clues for an interpretation of the 2009-2010 electoral cycle in Uruguay. The changes in citizenship are particularly discussed as a critical factor for the process. The following topics are considered from an analytical perspective: (i) the importance of some electoral behaviours during the past biennium as part of a deep change in the citizenship model; (ii) the presentation of some ideas about the explanatory criteria and narrative guidelines regarding the behaviour of the Uruguayan electorate during the said period; (iii) the identification of some peculiarities and similarities of the Uruguayan case in relation to the current political Latin-American panorama; (iv) the pointing out of some important challenges that were met during the last electoral period in Uruguay facing the coming years.
