Los procesos electorales constituyen escenarios propicios para observar tanto el juego interpartidario,
como la relación de más largo plazo que se establece entre política y sociedad.
En el presente trabajo, se analizará el escenario de las elecciones presidenciales y parlamentarias
chilenas de 2013, con el objetivo de abordar los déficits y temas pendientes de la
democracia que emergieron en la agenda electoral, dos décadas y media después de las
elecciones fundacionales que cerraron el ciclo autoritario. En este sentido, se pondrá énfasis
en los aspectos político-institucionales, interpretando que los mismos pueden brindar claves
para abordar el estudio del debilitamiento de los vínculos entre los ciudadanos y la política
Electoral processes are an ideal setting for the arise of tensions between political parties. They also provide us with evidence to study the development of the long term relation between politics and society. The object of this paper is to analyze Chile’s presidential and parliamentary elections in 2013, in order to discover the faults and pending matters that may be found in the democratic system, as elections draw renewed attention to them. More than two decades have passed since the very first elections that signaled the authoritarian government’s end. The main focus of this work will be placed in the political and institutional phenomena, and the goal will be to try and find out the keys to study the decline of the bond between politics and the citizenship
