| dc.description | En el contexto de la llamada crisis migratoria europea, los medios de comunicación suelen referirse al papel que juegan los teléfonos inteligentes de los refugiados antes y después del proceso migratorio. Este artículo aborda esta forma de migración mediatizada con especial interés en el autoempoderamiento. Para esto, presenta los resultados de entrevistas cualitativas (N = 17) y encuestas cuantitativas (N = 97) realizadas a refugiados en albergues de Berlín en 2016. El estudio se centra en el factor de autoempoderamiento mediatizado a través del teléfono móvil. Durante el proceso migratorio, el móvil ayuda a los migrantes a reunir información sobre su país de destino, a transitar ese proceso y también les permite independencia de los traficantes de personas. Sin embargo, el teléfono móvil está siempre presente en el país anfitrión y también contribuye a prácticas cotidianas como la orientación y la coordinación (social). | es |
| dc.description | In the context of the so-called European migration crisis the media has often referred to the role of refugees’ smartphones during and after the migration process. This chapter will address this mediatized form of migration with a special focus on self-empowerment. It presents the findings of qualitative interviews (N=17) and quantitative surveys (N=97) with refugees living in shelters in Berlin in 2016. The study focuses on the mediatized self-empowermentfactor through the mobile phone: During the migration process the mobile phone helps migrants in the gathering of information about their destination country, to navigate the entire migration process, and it also enables independence from human traffickers. However, it emerges that in the host country the mobile phone is always present and also contributes to assisting in everyday practices such as orientation and (social) coordination. | es |
