Resumen
La fuerte competitividad industrial que se vive actualmente ha revolucionado el
concepto de producción, aumentando paralelamente la importancia que la calidad ya había
tenido tradicionalmente y modificando su sentido. Actualmente, es común que la calidad de
cualquier producto industrial se utilice como su sello de garantía. La calidad es un parámetro
importante para todos los sectores industriales, pero adquiere aún mayor relevancia en la
industria farmacéutica.
La Gestión de la Calidad, entendida como el conjunto de actividades dirigidas a
establecer objetivos y responsabilidades, y asegurar que éstos se cumplan mediante un plan
estratégico, se ha convertido en una parte muy importante de la gestión general de cualquier
organización. El proceso de Gestión de Calidad ayuda a poner en práctica medidas de
Garantía de Calidad, entre las cuales las Buenas Prácticas de Fabricación y Control (BPFyC)
se cuentan como un elemento fundamental. Las BPFyC prescriben la necesidad de efectuar
Control de Calidad, convirtiendo a esta actividad en una herramienta útil e idónea para la
toma de decisiones en relación a la calidad de los productos.
El Control de Calidad, se define como la parte de las Buenas Prácticas de Fabricación y
Control, referidas a muestreo, ensayos, especificaciones, organización, documentación y
autorización, que actúa sobre la circulación y venta de productos.
Por otro lado la Quimiometría es una sub-disciplina de la Química que utiliza de forma
lógica las matemáticas, la estadística y otros métodos para diseñar o seleccionar
procedimientos óptimos de medida y experimentación y para extraer la información más
relevante de los datos experimentales. Esta problemática ha propiciado el desarrollo de diferentes métodos analíticos denominados quimiométricos. La aplicación de métodos
quimiométricos a problemas farmacéuticos es actualmente un área de fértil desarrollo y
actividad.
El objetivo de este trabajo de Tesis ha sido el desarrollo de metodología quimiométrica
como elemento clave en el desarrollo de estrategias analíticas rápidas, económicas y de gran
flujo de muestras, aptas para el control de calidad de medicamentos.
Para llevar a cabo estos objetivos, se han desarrollado, validado y aplicado nuevos
métodos para el control de calidad de diversos productos de interés farmacéutico,
obteniéndose como resultados más salientes los que se detallan a continuación.
The strong industrial competitiveness that characterizes modern times has radically changed the concept of production, simultaneously increasing the traditional relevance of quality and modifying its sense. Nowadays, it is not uncommon to observe the quality of any industrial product being advertised as part of its marketing effort. Quality is an important parameter for all industrial sectors; however, it acquires still greater relevance in the pharmaceutical industry. The Management of the Quality, understood as the set of activities directed to establishing goals and responsibilities, and to assure that these would be fulfilled by means of a strategic plan, has turned into a key and highly important part of the general management of any organization. The process of Quality Management helps to put into practice directives of Quality Assurance, among which the Good Manufacturing Practices (BPFyC – GMP) are a fundamental element. The GMPs prescribe the need to carry out Quality Control, turning to the latter activity into a useful and suitable tool for the decision taking process, in relation to the quality of the products. Quality Control is defined as the part of the Good Manufacturing Practices, which deals with sampling, testing, specifications, organization, documentation, and authorization, acting on the traffic and sales of products. On the other hand Chemometrics is a sub-discipline of Chemistry that combines the sound use of mathematics, statistics and other methods with the aim to design or to select ideal measurement and experimental procedures and to extract the most relevant experimental information. This area has propitiated the development of different analytical methodologies, termed chemometric methods. Their application to pharmaceutical problems is nowadays an area of fertile development and febrile activity. The aim of this Thesis has been the inclusion of chemometrics methodology as the key element in the development of rapid and economic analytical strategies, suitable for the routinary quality control of medicines and characterized by their simplicity and high sample throughput. In order to fulfil the objectives, new methods have been developed, validated and applied to the quality control of various products of pharmaceutical interest, as detailed below.
