Abstract: The Society of Jesus shows since its foundation a marked inclination for the emblematic genre used as propaganda of the educational system. The enormous visio-verbal communicative power of the emblem makes it an optimal vehicle for religious and moral messages. In this sense, Ignatius himself and other relevant humanists of the Order establish in the curricula of the Jesuit school‘s emblematic exercises that are part of the aulic experience. The third eclogue of Manuscript1631 of the National Library of Mexico, written on the occasion of the Consilium Mexicanum and declaimed in some solemn act, offers elements that link it with emblematic literature, since the hieroglyph included in it reflects a clear dependence on the reason for the celebration and is presented as an instrument of propaganda.
