En este artículo ensayo algunas hipótesis sobre el lugar de marginalidad al
que están confinadas las religiones afrobrasileñas en Rosario. Propongo que esta
situación es resultado de un entramado de diferentes matrices performativas de
diferenciación social que se fueron tejiendo a lo largo de la historia. Éste está
vinculado a un paradigma excluyente implementado a nivel nacional como modo
de organización socio-cultural, que tuvo en esta ciudad sus ribetes particulares.
Para ello, expondré brevemente la trayectoria de vida de una Mae de santo con la
cual trabajé durante casi 10 años, focalizándome en ciertas adscripciones sociales:
religiosas, raciales y sexo-genéricas. Luego retomaré a varios investigadores
–historiadores y antropólogos– para situar el contexto rosarino, tomando
estas variables de adscripción como aquellos ejes a partir de los cuales se fue
organizando una ciudad bajo parámetros de diferenciación y segregación social
altamente performativos (productivos de un determinado orden y una determinada
forma de ser y habitar ese entramado urbano). Finalmente, señalaré cómo este
entramado local se configura como el espacio de socialización en el cual los
devotos plasman su agencia y producen su práctica religiosa, debiendo sobrellevar
esta trama altamente excluyente.
In this paper I test some hypotheses about the place of marginality to which Afro-Brazilian religions are confined in Rosario. I propose that this situation is a result of a network of different performative matrices of social differentiation that were woven throughout history. This is linked to an excluding paradigm implemented at the national level as a mode of socio-cultural organization, wich had in this city its particular form. To do this, I will briefly explain the life trajectory of a Mae de santo with which I worked for almost 10 years, focusing on certain social ascriptions: religious, racial and sex-gender. Then I will return to several researchers –historians and anthropologists– to place the context of Rosario, taking these variables of ascription as those axes from which a city was organized under parameters of highly performative social differentiation and segregation (productive of a certain order and a certain way of being and inhabit that urban network). Finally, I will point out how this local network is configured as the space of socialization in which the devoteesexpress their agency and produce their religious practice, having to cope this highly excluding plot.
