El presente trabajo pretende abordar el estudio de la devoción del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús como parte del
proyecto nacional, impulsado por las nuevas jerarquías eclesiásticas una vez separada constitucionalmente
la Iglesia del Estado. Dicha devoción revisitó el carácter de expiatoria en un estado que devino laico. Las
prácticas religiosas populares que se generaron en su entrono y en el del Santuario Nacional del Cerrito de
la Victoria (construido para dicho fin), incrementadas desde la llegada a la parroquia de los P.P.
Sacramentinos en 1927, constituyen un escenario privilegiado para explorar las articulaciones entre los
lineamientos impuestos por la jerarquía en su plan de acción y la identificación con éstos por parte de una feligresía que, desde la óptica secularista, había sido llamada a manifestar su fe exclusivamente en el ámbito
de la vida privada.
This paper intends to approach the study of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of the national project, motivated by the new ecclesiastical authorities following the constitutional separation of Church and State. Said devotion took on an expiatory manner in a state that became lay. The popular religious practices that generated around it and at the National Shrine of "Cerrito de la Victoria" (built for said purpose), and increased with the arrival of the Blessed Sacrament priests to the parish in 1927, are the perfect scenario to explore the relationships between the guidelines imposed by the hierarchy in its action plan, and the understanding of the parishioners whom, from a secular viewpoint, had been told to manifest their faith exclusively in their private lives.
