Staphylococcus aureus is a bacterial pathogen capable of causing a variety of diseases both in humans and in animals. We resort to the use of bacteriophages in order to understand the pathogenesis and look for alternative treatments. Phages are viruses that infect bacteria in a specific way and have the ability to lyse them. In this study the annotation and the comparative analysis of four bacteriophages from environmental, animal and human origin capable of infect S. aureus was carried out. Considering the differences between the phages the utilization of different bioinformatics tools and the selection of distinct genes has been proposed. It has been possible to describe the distinctive features and the similarities with those belonging to the same family. Endolysins were analysed, and one phage (vB_SauS_308) only shows CHAP domain. To finalize the search for genes encoding virulence factors and toxins was carried out.
