Las operaciones de salvamento pueden ser entendidas como procesos de formación
cultural que inciden de modo específico en los pecios. Este trabajo presenta posibles indicadores arqueológicos relacionados a actividades de salvamento de alta
intensidad, partiendo de las investigaciones realizadas sobre los restos del vapor
Presidente Roca, naufragado en la costa de la Provincia de Chubut en 1909. El
análisis de las actividades de salvamento permite comprender de modo más acabado la información contextual del sitio así como la posibilidad de acceder al valor
dado a un naufragio como fuente de recursos en contextos históricos determinados.
Salvage operations can be understood as cultural formation processes specifically affecting wrecks. This paper intends to present possible archaeological indicators related to high intensity salvage activities, based on the research carried out on the remains of the steamer Presidente Roca, shipwrecked on the coast of Chubut Province in 1909. The analysis of the salvage activities allows a more thorough understanding of the contextual information from the site as well as the ability to understand the value given to a shipwreck as a source of resources in specific historical contexts.
