El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las formas que adquirió el duelo popular por la agonía y muerte de Eva Duarte –el 26 de julio de 1952- en el contexto de la dinámica relación entre el gobierno peronista y la Iglesia católica, y realizar un aporte desde la historia regional hacia la complejización interpretativa de dicha relación. Para tales fines se analizarán además algunas de las vicisitudes propias del clero local, relacionándolas con el contexto nacional y luego las respuestas de éstos clérigos ante el dolor popular. Las hipótesis de este artículo entran en diálogo con las de una parte considerable de la historiografía sobre el tema.
The aims of this research are, on the one hand, to analyze the manners adopted by the popular mourning after Eva Duarte’s agony and death on July 26th, 1952 in a context of the dynamic relationship between the Peronist Government and the Catholic Church. On the other hand, to contribute in the development from the regional history to the interpretative complexity of this relationship. Moreover, for these purposes, some vicissitudes of the local clergy in relation to the national context and the clergy’s replies given to the popular pain will be analyzed. The hypotheses of this article enter into dialogue with those that constitute a fundamental part of the historiography about this topic.
