Las relaciones de género son una forma específica de relación social, concebida como la construcción social de la diferencia sexual, es decir el rol que mujeres y hombres son forzados a cumplir como producto de los mandatos culturales, en sociedades históricas y concretas. Estas relaciones mantienen aún a las mujeres en una situación de subordinación que se expresa en distintos modos de injusticia, exclusión y discriminación. Las mujeres han aceptado el desafío que esto significa y han emprendido un largo camino de resistencia contra la subordinación a que son sometidas y por obtener el pleno reconocimiento como ser social, político y productor de riqueza. De todas maneras y aún con la conquista de la Convención sobre la eliminación de todas las formas de discriminación contra la mujer, que entró en vigencia en 1981, en situación de conflictos armados, especialmente los que presentan fundamentos étnicos y en la vida cotidiana de diversas sociedades, las mujeres siguen sufriendo diferentes y numerosos modos de violencia en el marco de las diferentes étnicas.
En este trabajo se muestran distintos modos de subordinación y violencia contra las mujeres en contextos de diversidad cultural. Y se destaca una problemática de absoluta actualidad: la situación de las mujeres, como parte de la sociedad civil, en escenarios de enfrentamientos armados con fundamentos político-étnicos.
Gender relations are a specific kind of social relationship, conceived as the social construction of sexual difference, that is to say the role that women and men are forced to perform as the result of cultural mandates in concrete historical societies. These relationships still keep women in a situation of subordination that is expressed in different kinds of injustice, exclusion and discrimination. Women have accepted the challenge that this means and have started a long way of resistance against the subordination to which they are submitted an in order to gain full acknowledgement as a social, cultural, political and producer of richness being. Anyway and in spite of the Convention about the elimination of any kind of discrimination against women, that went into force in 1981, in the context of armed confrontations, specially those based on ethnic foundations, and in everyday life of numerous societies, women continue suffering from diverse and various types of violence in the context of ethnic differences. In this paper we present some kinds of subordination and violence against women in contexts of cultural diversity. And we remark the topical of the moment: the situation of women, as a part of social society in backgrounds of armed confrontations with political and ethnic basis.
