Teniendo en cuenta la aproximación hecha por Ricardo Piglia entre el crítico literario y el detective, se presenta el acto de lectura en Roberto Bolaño desde la comparación del tipo del detective-lector en dos de sus novelas y en “La muerte y la brújula”, de Jorge Luis Borges: en el cuento borgiano, el racionalismo hace frente al instinto que hay en Los detectives salvajes, que por su parte cuestiona la crítica europea en 2666. El desierto mexicano, el topos de las dos ficciones de Bolaño, impele hacia una lectura errante dentro de la narrativa, pero también afuera de ella, en la recepción crítica de su obra.
Considering about Ricardo Piglia’s approach between the literary critic and the detective, this paper presents the act of reading in Roberto Bolaño’s works with a comparison of the reader-detective figure in two of his novels and in Borges’s “Death and the Compass”: the rationalism in the borgean narrative faces the instinct of The savage detectives, which questions the European criticism in 2666. The Mexican desert, topos of these two Bolaño fictions, impels an erratic reading inside the narrative, but also beyond it, in the critical reception of Bolaño’s works.
