El presente trabajo intenta cuestionarse que ocurre cuando se abordar el museo de arte como una
construcción virtual, es decir, en los casos en que no posee una ubicación física y sólo existe en la Web.
El museo de Arte de Uruguay (MUVA) marca nuevos límites y fronteras, presenta una nueva manera de pensar el “ser real”; no se
contrapone a lo real sino que se complementa, utilizando la aplicación de nuevas tecnologías como reflejo de sus actividades.
A su vez, la virtualidad nos hacen pensar hasta qué punto este nuevo ser museo tiene entre sus prioridades la conservación y
patrimonialización de la cultura, lo que hace necesario indagar en los procesos de legitimación que producen dichas instituciones
dentro de la escena artística.
The following paper attempts to question what happens when the museum of art is ap-proached as a virtual construction, in cases where it does not possess a physical location and exists only in the Web. The Art Museum of Uruguay (MUVA) sets new limits and boundaries, presents a new way of thinking about "being real". This is not opposed to the real but it is comple-mented by using the application of new technologies as a reflection of their activities. At the same time, its virtual status reminds us how far this new museum has among its priorities transforming culture into heritage and making it necessary to investigate the processes that produce these institutions legitimacy within the artistic scene.
