Si bien la pregunta acerca de la relación entre las distintas partes de
la filosofía reconocidas por los estoicos ha sido objeto de intensos debates en
las últimas décadas, no se ha prestado demasiada atención a la pregunta acerca
del lugar que asume la Física en las reflexiones de Epicteto. Intentaré demostrar
la implausibilidad del relativo consenso existente entre la crítica especializada en
cuanto a que la Física efectivamente formaba parte de la curricula pedagógica
de Epicteto, ya sea en las discusiones recogidas por Arriano o en las lecciones
formales respecto de las cuales aquellas operaban como un complemento.
Although the question about the relationship between the different parts of philosophy acknowledged by the Stoics has been at the center of rich debates in the last few decades, little attention has been paid to the question of the role played by Physics in Epictetus’ reflections. I shall try to show the implausibility of the relative consensus among Epictetus’ commentators that Physics did indeed play a role in his pedagogical curriculum, be it within the discussions gathered by Arrian or in the formal lessons which those lessons were supposed to complement.
