Resumen
Descripción
El presente artículo se aboca al debate
actual que —desde larga data— tiene
lugar en las ciencias sociales acerca de
la existencia de diferencias esenciales
en la forma de interpretar la realidad
de cada lengua, donde la influencia
cultural impacta en la manera en que
cada colectivo lingüístico percibe
y expresa la realidad circundante.
Partiendo de la premisa de que a
nivel individual existen diferencias
intersubjetivas en la forma de
interpretar el mundo, resulta lógico
suponer que semejantes diferencias
existen entre los portadores de
distintas lenguas. En este trabajo se analizan los aspectos que pueden
hablar a favor de la relatividad
lingüística, donde la cultura aparece
como un factor determinante en la
formación de los significados en cada
lengua.
This article focuses on the long and still current debate in the social sciences about the existence of different forms of interpretation of reality carried out by every human language. In this sense, linguistic communities are influenced by their culture in the way they perceive and express their surrounding reality. Assuming that there are substantial differences among people in how they interpret the world, it seems to be logical that there should exist such differences between distinct languages’ speakers. In this paper, the main perspectives about linguistic relativity are analyzed, in which culture is a determinant factor in the construction of meaning in each language.
