El artículo reconstruye cuáles fueron los pasos, obstáculos y logros del Departamento Topográfico entrerriano en pos de la construcción del mapa topográfico catastral de la provincia entre 1862 y 1886. El mismo se nutre de las investigaciones desarrolladasen los últimos años que han ponderado la necesidad de restituir el contexto de producción cartográfica como de los estudios que han destacado las funciones que han tenido los mapas en la formación de los Estados nacionales y la actuación de diversos agentes e instituciones en su elaboración como, asimismo, las tensiones entre los diversos actores y los imaginarios cartográficos que se buscaban legitimar. Bajo aquel marco, en el artículo se analizan las memorias del Departamento Topográfico, la correspondencia gubernamental y los debates en la Legislatura y se plantea que la dinámica institucional jugó un rol significativo en las dificultades que tuvo aquella institución para la elaboración del mapa topográfico catastral entrerriano.
The article reconstructs the steps, obstacles and achievements of the Entre Ríos Topographic Department in the construction of the cadastral topographic map of the province between 1862 and 1886. It draws on research carried out in recent years that has considered the need to restore the context of cartographic production, as well as on studies that have highlighted the functions that maps have had in the formation of national states and the role of various agents and institutions in their production, also the tensions between the various actors and the cartographic imaginaries that they sought to legitimise. Within this framework, the article analyses the memoirs of the Topographic Department, government correspondence and debates in the Legislature, and suggests that institutional dynamics played a significant role in the difficulties that this institution faced in the production of the cadastral topographic map of Entre Ríos.
