En este artículo se expone un análisis del proceso que condujo hacia el último tercio del siglo XVIII
a la introducción del aforro de cobre, principal sistema del que se valieron las Armadas europeas para
proteger el casco de sus barcos de guerra de la acción de la broma y otros organismos marinos. Sobre
la base del estudio de información histórica y arqueológica, se discuten aspectos significativos de la
dinámica de innovación, con foco en la interrelación de los procesos de experimentación, transferencia tecnológica y conservadurismo.
This article presents an analysis of the process that led to the introduction of the copper sheathing in the last third of the 18th century, which was the main system used by the European navies to protect their warships’ hull from the action of shipworms and other marine organisms. Based on the study of historical and archaeological data, significant aspects of the innovation dynamic are discussed, focusing on the interrelation of the processes of experimentation, technology transfer and conservatism.
