La barbarie fue una importante figura en la retórica misional jesuítica,
desde ella se construyó la imagen de un buen salvaje “domesticado”
que moraba en las fronteras y en espacios reduccionales, que pueden
ser concebidos como civitas. El objetivo de este trabajo es realizar un
aporte al conocimiento de la historiografía jesuítica, del siglo XVIII,
ponderando la figura de la barbarie que se hace presente en la
literatura ignaciana, centrados en la lectura de dos obras La
Descripción Chorographica del Gran Chaco Gualamba [1733] de Pedro
Lozano, SJ y la Historia de los Abipones [1783] de Martín Dobrizhoffer, SJ;
partiendo de la base que estos dos escritos marcan un jalón dentro de
la literatura jesuítica.
The barbarism was a very important figure in the Jesuit rhetoric into Hispanic Colonial world. From this rhetoric, the image of the savage domesticated who as lived into Jesuit missions can be approached from the native point of view, like a true civitas. This paper discusses the jesuit rhetoric about natives peoples of the Gran Chaco and your conception about native discourse about aboriginal politics and policies, into 18th century. The discussion it's around of two most popular books of history of the Gran Chaco.
