El presente artículo analiza algunas de las posibilidades teóricas y metodológicas
que tiene un/a antropólogo/a audiovisual al trabajar en un archivo, en mi caso el
Archivo Blomberg (Quito, Ecuador). Las siguientes reflexiones apuntan a relevar
los sentidos que construyen los archivos en dos niveles: el contexto de producción
y el contexto actual de las imágenes. Las dos variables para investigar ambos
contextos son la materialidad de las imágenes (historia, disposición y circulación)
y la representación de las mismas (intenciones, forma/contenido y miradas).
La tarea del/la antropólogo/a audiovisual consiste en distinguir los usos y las
representaciones de las imágenes en los diferentes contextos que atraviesan. Así
es que en mi caso de estudio pude analizar cómo las ideas que había construido el
explorador sueco Rolf Blomberg en los años ’30 sobre Ecuador, todavía el Archivo
Blomberg las sigue manteniendo.
This article analyzes some of the theoretical and methodological possibilities that an audiovisual anthropologist has when working on an archive, in my case the Archivo Blomberg (Quito, Ecuador). The following reflections aim to relieve the senses that construct the archives in two levels: the production context and the current context of the images. The two variables to investigate both contexts are the materiality of the images (history, arrangement and circulation) and the representation of them (intentions, form / content and looks). The task of the audiovisual anthropologist consists in distinguishing the uses and representations of the images in the different contexts that they cross. So, in my case study I was able to analyze how the ideas that the Swedish explorer Rolf Blomberg had built in the 1930s on Ecuador, Archivo Blomberg still maintains them.
