Este trabajo se propone analizar la película El Último Malón (1917) de Alcides Greca, filmada con el propósito de documentar la rebelión mocoví de 1904 en San Javier (provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina). Considerando su relación con el contexto de la época, sus objetivos, sus modos de representación y las influencias ideológicas de su autor, nos proponemos mostrar las posibilidades que el film ofrece para el conocimiento del pasado. Afirmamos, así, que se trata de una obra de gran valor cinematográfico, histórico y antropológico que ha trascendido ampliamente su propio tiempo, logrando consolidarse como documento en estrecha relación con el actual contexto de revalorización del cine en el campo de la Historia.
This article analyses the film El Último Malón (1917) by Alcides Greca, which was produced with the aim of documenting the rebellion led by the mocovi aborigines in 1904 in the town of San Javier (province of Santa Fe, Argentina). Considering its relationship with its historical context, its objectives, its ways of representing the characters and its author’s ideological influencies, we intend to show the possibilities that this movie offers for the study of the past. We claim that this is a film with a great cinematographic, historical and anthropological value that has gone far beyond its own time, being able to become a historical document in connection with the current context of revalorisation of cinema in the field of History.
