En el presente artículo proponemos trabajar un relato de viajes: “La torre de los ingleses” (1929) del escritor Alcides Greca (San Javier 1889-Rosario 1956), quien entre 1919 y 1929 viaja por Argentina, Chile, Perú, Bolivia y Uruguay acompañado por los hermanos Ángel (1896-1960) y Alfredo Guido (1892-1967). El recuerdo constituirá la materia prima de los relatos en un marco de apelación a la visualidad como modo de acercarse al mundo y a la construcción de mapas. El corpus centrado en esta obra intentará desplegar las construcciones de un tipo de relato de viajes y de un tipo de intelectual que desea confirmar su valor y función en el incipiente campo intelectual argentino, desde una mirada descentrada.
We intend with the present article to work with a tale of travels: “The English Tower” (1929) by the writer Alcides Greca (San Javier 1889 - Rosario 1956) who, between 1919 and 1929 travels through Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Uruguay together with brothers Angel (1896-1960 ) and Alfredo Guido (1892 1967). The recollections will be the raw material of the tales within a frame that appeals to visuality as a way to approach the world and to the drawing of maps. The “corpus” centred in the work will intend to display not only the writing of a kind of travel tale but also of a kind of intellectual that wishes to confirm his value and role in the incipient argentinian intellectual field, from an off-centre point of view.
