El presente artículo se propone explorar las diversas estrategias textuales a las que apela Ovidio en Met. III, vv.138- 252, para amplificar el relato sobre la muerte de Acteón inserto en el texto de Calímaco In lauacrum Palladis. Nuestra hipótesis es que Ovidio no sólo reta a sus lec-tores a detectar las deudas mantenidas con su modelo sino también a percibir las innovaciones por él apor-tadas. En tal sentido, analizamos el campo semántico vinculado con la noción de “ver” con el propósito de dilucidar la relación instituida entre la mirada que irrumpe en un espacio signado por la sacralidad y la subversión de los ámbitos de poder naturalizados.
This article explores the different textual strategies through which Ovid’s Metamorphoses III, vv. 138-252, amplifies the story about Actaeon’s death in Callimachus’ In lauacrum Palladis. Our hypothesis is that Ovid not only challenges his readers to track what he ows to his model, but also to fathom his own innovations. In this sense, we analyse the semantic field related to the notion of “seeing” in order to grasp the relationship between looking into a sacred place and the act of undermining the so called natural power relations.
