The purpose of this paper is to analyze the journalistic coverage that the magazines Caras y Caretas, PBT and La Vida Moderna carried out after an attack that took place in the town of Chivilcoy, located a little more than one hundred and fifty kilometers from the city of Buenos Aires, on March 2, 1910. First, a brief synthesis of the appearance and expansion of this type of magazines in Argentina is made, highlighting their main characteristics and the place that the photographic resource occupied within them. Secondly, a brief review of the political history of Chivilcoy is made in order to contextualize the events that took place. Finally, we analyze the repercussion of the attack in the main press media and the specific approach taken by the mentioned magazines. The aim is to show how they transmitted the news, through what resources, how they were in tune with the public opinion expressed by the main newspapers and what links they sought to establish with their readers. It is argued that while photographs were displayed as a clear and objective sample of reality, a series of caricatures reflected a moral and satirical portrait of what happened.
