La conjugación del soporte oral, enraizado en una tradición de origen gauchesco, y su renovada puesta en voz hacia mediados de la década del sesenta, propuso desafíos que sacudieron arraigados prejuicios a un lado y otro del espectro cultural: el de la metrópolis letrada y sus academicismos canónicos por un lado, y el de los que provenían de una conservadora tradición campera, por otro. En un territorio cultural que aún mantenía las dicotomías campo-ciudad, alta y baja cultura, surgían nuevas formas de emisión poética que pergeñaban una senda de renovación en un género siempre adelantado a los cambios y las rupturas estéticas, a la vez que crecientemente desplazado del mercado editorial.From the concept of the staging of poetry's voice we propose to revisit listening and reading the contemporary Uruguayan poetry, bringing in the voices of those called "troveros orientales" (the literal translation would be "oriental minstrels" due to the fact that Uruguay sits on the eastern or oriental side of the Uruguay river across from Argentina).
