Los distintos actores hicieron muy prontode las imágenes del pasado, incluso del pasado lejano, un escenario y una herramienta en aquella lucha. Así, por ejemplo, sectores del antiperonismo más duro enlazaban su presente con la Revolución de Mayo y con la batalla de Caseros, mientras el peronismo construía una relación estrecha y novedosa en varios aspectos con los revisionismos, que tendían a preferir otros héroes: San Martín y Rosas fueron los nombres más habituales de esa tradición. En este artículo, ubicado en el cruce de la historia cultural, la historia política y la historia de la historiografía, se examinará cómo el Partido Comunista intervino en aquel combate por el pasado, a través de análisis de algunas obras producidas por sus intelectuales y de algunas de las posiciones publicadas por medios de prensa de la organización.After the military coup that overthrew peronism in 1955, a period of intense and violent political dispute started. Soon after, different actors made of the images of the past, including the far past, a scenery and a tool of that dispute. As an example, sectors of the hardest antiperonism related the present with the Mayo Revolution and the battle of Caseros; peronists created a close and in many aspects novel relation with the revisionisms that tended to prefer other heroes: San Martín and Rosas became the most habitual names of that tradition.
