This article reconstructs the intellectual and professional trajectory of María Luisa Petetín, an Argentine educator trained at the Normal School of Rosario and the National University of La Plata who, from the early decades of the twentieth century, deliberately transcended the school environment to establish herself in the public sphere. Through a methodology that intersects the history of education with a gender perspective and cultural history, the analysis focuses on her conditions of possibility within the context of the feminization of teaching, her particular deployment of liberal sociability in a restrictive environment, and her prolific work as a writer and editor. We argue that her case not only illustrates but also challenges the predominant stereotype of the self-sacrificing teacher confined to the classroom. The research details how Petetin strategically used her teaching role and credentials to expand her networks of influence and action, actively and visibly engaging with the incipient feminist movement of the time. Simultaneously, her participation in Masonic cultural spaces provided her with a unique platform that allowed her to build and consolidate a public intellectual profile that was remarkably unconventional for the women of her generation, thereby challenging the limits traditionally imposed on her gender1-24esopenAccessRosarioLa PlataMagisterioEducaciónFeminismoLa docencia como plataforma de influencia pública : el caso de María Luisa Petetin (Argentina, principios del siglo XX)articuloAutora y Facultad de Ciencia Política y Relaciones Internacionaleshttps://doi.org/10.35305/cc.v1i25.197Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International ou are free to: Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
