En el marco de la Teoría Estándar, la recursión se considera una operatividad propia de la gramática, la que posibilita al lingüista dar cuenta de la infinitud de oraciones generadas por ella, y a la vez, la finitud que tal mecanismo tiene que poseer. Sin embargo, ha devenido cierto problema definicional y falta de acuerdo referencial en torno a dicho concepto. Mediante una revisión de los textos fundacionales, se busca mostrar el alcance descriptivo que se le ha atribuido al término. Asimismo, se espera precisar qué tipo de operaciones gramaticales se le atribuyen a esta noción y qué tipo de fenómenos lingüísticos esas operaciones generan.This paper offers a reconstruction of the linguistic notion known as ‘recursion’ as presented in the initial texts of Generative Grammar. Within the framework of Standard Theory, ‘recursion’ is considered to be a characteristic operation of grammar, which enables the linguist to account for the infinity of sentences generated by it, and the finitude that such mechanism possesses. However, there has been some difficulties to define this concept and a lack of referential agreement around it. Through a revision of the founding texts, the aim is to show the descriptive scope that has been attributed to the term.
