Los hurritas, como parte constitutiva de esta región, padecieron los efectos de ser nominados e influenciados por los otros (p.ej. mesopotámicos, semitas, hititas), y esto se observa claramente en las fuentes propias y ajenas. Así, una visión diacrónica de las fuentes nos brinda un panorama más amplio para poder entender aquellas características que les fueron propias como de influencia ajena.The cultures of the Ancient Near East tended to name the people and the languages that they used in different ways. The Hurrians, as a constituent part of this region, experienced the effects of being named and influenced by others (e.g. Mesopotamians, Semites, Hittites), and this is clearly seen in their own and other sources.
