This paper intends to research female participation in Argentine film production before the first Peronist government.Although there have been many great actresses since the beginning of local cinema, historiography has barely addressed exploring the inclusion of women behind scenes. Using a historical methodology –mainly archival work in specialized film magazines–, this study proposes to collect data from female workers in the film industry from 1933 up to 1955 to shed light on their contribution. The aim is to examine whether the positions held by women were mostly linked to lower ranks in film production and if these roles were reduced to feminized labor or related to the “female sphere”. Moreover, we offer a glimpse into some of the patterns we can identify among these female workers in a male dominated industry during its often called “golden age”.1-31esopenAccessMujeresGéneroTrabajoCineArgentinaHistoriaMujeres detrás de escena : aproximaciones al trabajo femenino en la industria del cine argentino (1933–1945)articuloAutores y Cuadernos del CIESALhttps://doi.org/10.35305/cc.v1i23.157Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International You are free to: Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms.
