2018-09-102018-09-1020172618-2998http://hdl.handle.net/2133/12391En este artículo presentamos algunas de las reflexiones originadas en la lectura de la obra Contrapunteo cubano del tabaco y el azúcar del antropólogo cubano Fernando Ortiz (1983 [1940]). El interés por leer y escribir sobre un escritor tan original y provocador como “olvidado” en nuestra antropología, amplía el horizonte de análisis hacia críticas y reflexiones, a veces, también olvidadas. Nos focalizamos especialmente en la contraposición que propone Ortiz entre el concepto de transculturación y el de aculturación, (extensamente utilizado en la antropología clásica de esos años), retomando particularmente la perspectiva histórica del autor, para continuar con su aporte a contrapelo a la antropología y a la comprensión y transformación de los fenómenos humanos. Asimismo, proponemos un contrapunto entre la propuesta transcultural de Ortiz y algunos elementos de la corriente antropológica del particularismo histórico norteamericano fundada por Boas.In this article we present some of the reflections originated from the reading of the Contrapunteo cubano del tabaco y el azúcar, the work of the Cuban anthropologist Fernando Ortiz (1983 [1940]). The interest in reading and writing about a writer as original and provocative as “forgotten” in our anthropology extends the horizon of analysis to criticisms and reflections, sometimes also forgotten. We specially focus on Ortiz’s contrast between the concept of transculturation and acculturation, widely used in the classical anthropology of those years, taking up in particular the author’s historical perspective, in order to continue his contribution against the background of anthropology and to the understanding and transformation of human phenomena.
