Con la finalidad de abordar la importancia y funciones que desempeñaban las primeras escuelas de la región, se encontró que, durante los siglos XVIII Y XIX, las escuelas se convirtieron en un medio más para cristianizar y reproducir la cultura española colonial. Por ello, en este texto se muestra la reconstrucción histórico-educativa, principalmente a través de las fuentes primarias encontradas en el Archivo de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso, el cual no ha sido explorado lo suficiente y que guarda la documentación del Mayorazgo de Milpillas, lugar donde territorialmente pertenecieron los originales Altos. Además, se manejan diferentes textos derivados de investigaciones sobre esa zona territorial, para contextualizar la época, o bien para triangular o contrastar con los datos más relevantes.This document synthesizes the historical recovery concerning the first school located in the original Altos de Jalisco, Mexico. In order to discuss the importance and functions of the first schools in the region, it was found that, during the 18th and 19th centuries, schools became one more means to Christianize and reproduce the Spanish colonial culture. For this reason, this text shows the historical-educational reconstruction, mainly through the primary sources found in the Archive of the University of Texas at El Paso, which has not been sufficiently explored and which maintains the documentation of the Mayorazgo de Milpillas, place where the original Altos belonged territorially.
