Dentro de ésta, la falta de moral de la tropa policial fue un tema central, pues los mismos hombres que debían garantizar orden y decoro, incurrían en prácticas escandalosas e inmorales. El presente trabajo recorre las representaciones sobre la moral policial, considerando a qué sujetos se hizo responsable, a qué intereses se relacionó la pervivencia de la inmoralidad y qué consecuencias sociales se le adjudicaron. Se analizan los años de 1870 a 1900, considerando, respectivamente, la desmovilización que supuso el fin de la guerra de la Triple Alianza, que aumentó la presencia de hombres armados en las calles de la ciudad, y el recrudecimiento del recelo hacia las fuerzas policiales que existió en las colonias agrícolas a fines de siglo. Con ese fin, se revisan fuentes periodísticas, policiales y gubernamentales de Santa Fe y las Colonias circundantes.A new Agenda on public order was instituted in the city of Santa Fe and its region in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. It established what practices and values would be allowed and which others punished in the new civilized society. Within it, the lack of morals of the Police troops became a central issue, since the very men who had to guarantee public order and decorum, engaged in scandalous and immoral practices. This paper traces the representations on Police morality, considering which subjects were made responsible; to which interests the survival of immorality was related; and what social consequences it was said to pose. It analyses the period between 1870 and 1900 considering the demobilization that took place with the end of the War of the Triple Alliance (which increased the presence of armed men in the city) and the intensification of suspicion towards Police forces that existed in the agricultural colonies at the turn of the century.
