Esta agencia se gestó sobre la base de su institución antecesora, el departamento nacional del Trabajo, pero hubo novedades en el alcance y nacionalización de las funciones, en los saberes considerados valiosos para la gestión y en los nichos de reclutamiento estatal. El surgimiento del área de Trabajo y Previsión del Estado Nacional se ligó con los orígenes del peronismo, pero se comprende en relación con un proceso previo de construcción estatal de conocimiento sobre el mundo del trabajo y de demandas sociales que fueron convocando a los poderes públicos. Para profundizar el conocimiento del área, este trabajo propone una periodización de su derrotero entre 1943 y 1955, poniendo la lupa en el proceso de transformación de una agencia del Estado en relación con los cambios observados en su organización interna, los recursos asignados, el personal y los saberes comprometidos en su construcción y funcionamiento.In 1943, the Argentinian military government created the ‘secretaría de Trabajo y Previsión’. This new state agency was designed on the basis of the previous ‘departamento nacional de Trabajo’, but its appearance also meant the nationalization of the administration of labour issues, the incorporation and strengthen of new functions and the use of diff erent kinds of knowledge to run the state. The emergence of the ‘secretaría’ has been usually linked to the origins of peronism, but it is only deeply apprehended considering a long term process of state construction of knowledge on labour and social problems, interacting with social demands.
