In 1930, in the city of Buenos Aires, with the inauguration of Teatro del Pueblo directed by Leónidas Barletta, the foundations for what will become the independent theater in Argentina were settled. From there, a series of principles were established, defining a particular conception of relationships between theater and politics that will be constitutive of this activity. In Rosario, in 1942, the first independent group was formed, starting a long journey that will be consolidated over time with the appearance of new groups that will promote this type of theater, keeping in tune with the postulates inherited from the independent tradition. A way of understanding the theatre will be consolidated, crossed by strong ethical components, which will define its sacrificial and heroic character. Juan Hessel's production, which began in 2001 with the premiere of the play "Almas Fatales, melodrama patrio" and consolidated with "Naturaleza Muerta" in 2004, emerges on the Rosario scene to propose a new articulation between theater and politics that will be original and will allow us to think other ways for the local theater.
