La figura de Jezabel, la reina de Israel, ocupa un lugar fundamental entre los personajes controvertidos dentro de los relatos bíblicos sobre la dinastía ómrida. La esposa fenicia del hijo del fundador de la dinastía, el rey Ajab,compone un binomio que enfrenta en el plano social las tradiciones populares. Por esta razón la imagen de Jezabel condensa la maldad y la injusticia. Es un personaje magnético a tal punto que, la historiografía delos últimos años ha llegado a considerarla un personaje de ficción creado por el deuteronomista para oficiar de contrapunto de lo divino. El nombre semítico vinculado con el baalismo, el parentesco con los sidonios, su culto,su potente voz en la memoria cultural identificable de este convulsionado siglo IX a.C., resume la revisión que proponemos en este trabajo. Nuestro objetivo es identificar los elementos históricos en los pasajes que protagoniza e insertar su figura en un contexto más amplio de los cambios sociopolíticos que tienen lugar en el interior de la sociedad hebrea de su época.
The figure of Jezebel, the queen of Israel, occupies a fundamental place among the controversial characters in the biblical stories about the Omride Dynasty. The Phoenician wife of the son of the founder of the dynasty, King Ajab, composes a binomial that confronts social traditions in the social sphere. For this reason the image of Jezebel condenses evil and injustice. It is a magnetic character to the point that, the historiography of recent years has come to consider it a fictional character created by the Deuteronomist to act as a counterpoint to the divine. The Semitic name linked to Baalism, the kinship with the Sidonians their cult, their powerful voice in the identifiable cultural memory of this convulsed 9th century BC, summarizes the review we propose in this work. Our objective is to identify the historical elements in the passages that she stars and to insert her figure in a broader context of the sociopolitical changes that take place within the Hebrew society of his time.
